Ok, so “Grand Opening” might be a misnomer. We were closed on July 29th and we were open on July 30th. No streamers or noise makers or colorful balloons. But what we did have on the opening night was pretty grand … a 7 player D&D pick up game and lots of people asking “how long have you been here?” and “thank you for doing this!” It really set the mood for our first couple weeks.
Since then, we have signed up 165 members, had to increase our retail section by 12 shelf cubes, sold out of Cockroach poker … twice, had 147 people come and play games, and one person ask if we had Catan speedos (we don’t, by the way). So for our preview month, it’s been pretty amazing
Today we will be getting more posters, and within a week or so, more magnets, geeky stickers, and a bunch of geek gear.
Just last night, I rolled out the updated webpage with the very important calendar. Here within the next couple of days we will have the calendar finalized for September. Make sure to either come into the Geekhouse, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a spot for an event.
We are currently on day 63 of our liquor license application (which we were told 60-90 days) so we will hopefully have news for everyone asking about beers and ciders soon.
